Reading
Reading is free and requires nothing from you. You may link to any page on this site without asking.
Accounts
An account is optional — everything is readable without one. If you make one, use a real address you can reach: the account cannot sign in until the address is confirmed from an activation email, and it is the only way we could contact you about the account. Keep your password to yourself. We may close an account that is used to abuse the site or other readers. You can delete yours at any time from your account page, or by asking; see the privacy policy.
Reuse
The stories and articles here are owned by The Nightstand. You may quote a short passage with attribution and a link. You may not republish whole chapters or articles, mirror the site, or use its contents to train a model, without written permission. Ask at hello@story.imsb.info.
How the stories are made
The serials on this site are drafted by AI inside a plan and a set of rules we set, and every draft is checked before it can be published. No editor reads each chapter before it goes up. The editorial process page sets out the whole sequence, and the checks that stand in place of that reading.
Fiction
Everything published as a serial is fiction. Characters, businesses, and events are invented. Any resemblance to real people or real events is coincidental.
Availability
We aim to keep published chapters up and reachable at the same address, but we do not guarantee the site is always available, and we may edit or remove anything.
Liability
The site is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from using it.
