The grandmother of 16 children rescued from what authorities described as one of America’s most appalling homes in Ohio was seen wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with a four-word message in eerie jail footage.

Police discovered the kids while executing an unrelated search warrant at the location. Investigators reported that several of the children appeared, while the eldest couldn’t even write her own name.
Attorney General Andy Wilson characterized the scene as “terrible,” stating, “I mean, it looked like almost feral animals. It was terrible.” The 67-year-old grandmother, Christina, faces 16 counts of child endangerment.
Her husband, Gary Siders Sr., 73, along with her son, Gary Siders Jr. , 36, and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Siders, 33, have also been hit with identical charges. Jail surveillance video shows the moment the four adults were booked into the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail (SEORJ) in the early hours of July 1.
Cameras captured Christina and the other adults being unloaded from a black sheriff’s van and moved into the facility. The grandmother was the first to be searched after being walked to the jail entrance.
Christina was handcuffed while wearing gray patterned leggings, trainers, and a T-shirt with the message “Love one another, y’all.” The grandmother was later seen wearing an orange jumpsuit in the jail footage.
Christina requested a gag order following her arrest – mirroring a similar motion already approved for her son.
Following her arrest, Christina’s legal representative has submitted a motion seeking a gag order that blocks any additional details regarding her involvement in the case from being made public.

Judge Laina Fetherolf Rogers had previously approved a gag order for Gary Siders Jr. In issuing that gag order, Fetherolf Rogers noted that public statements from prosecutors and legal representatives could “create a reasonable likelihood of prejudicial pretrial publicity which may impact the ability to impanel an impartial jury.”
Judge Rogers signed Christina’s gag order on July 23, local news outlet WYSO reports. Elizabeth’s lawyer, Thomas Stolly, meanwhile condemned those who had already shared excessive details about the proceedings.
“We’re still at the early stages of this criminal case. And so that’s one of the reasons that it’s important to push back against language like that,” he told WBNS, “And it’s important to remember that Elizabeth and the rest of the Siders family are innocent until proven guilty.”

Attorney General Wilson claimed the children discovered in the Ohio residence were confined to a space measuring approximately 12 feet by 12 feet for the majority of the past four years.
“What we saw down here today is pure evil. Most of our livestock was kept in better conditions than the children. It was just a disgusting scene,” he stated. All four adults facing charges in the matter have entered not guilty pleas and waived their preliminary hearings.
On July 7, 73-year-old Gary Siders Sr. was released on a recognizance bond following a fall and medical emergency while being transported to court. Vinton County Prosecutor William Archer confirmed that Siders’ medical expenses would be covered by the county given his incarceration.
He stated: “Based on the information that we were provided, his medical care could potentially bankrupt Vinton County. We were not going to put that burden also on our local taxpayers.”
